Three School Records Fall at Lee Last Chance Meet

In the second-to-last meet before the selections to the NCAA Championships are announced, the Emory University track & field teams had numerous standout performances Saturday afternoon at the Lee University Last Chance Meet including three school records falling.

Graduate student Maxwell Prizant established a new team record in the pole vault, reaching a height of 4.63m to break the 11-year-old record of 4.60m, and in the 4x400m Relay the group of senior Thomas Davis, graduate student Liam Fost, sophomore Dawit Dean and freshman Jackson Price posted a new program-best, clocking in with a blistering 3:12.76 to eclipse the previous school record of 3:13.53 set back in 2014.

Junior Annika Urban shaved ten seconds off her previous personal-best to become the first runner under the 17-minute mark in the 5000m Run as she crossed the finish line at 16:50.93, passing her school record time of 17:00.46 that she ran last month at Lee's Flames Invitational.

In addition to the two school records being set on the men's side, sophomore Spencer Moore ran the second fastest time in the 3000m Steeplechase at 9:05.24 and the 4x100m relay of freshman Sam Ryba, Davis, Fost and Price clocked in at 41.30, just .03 behind their school record mark they set at the UAA Championships a few weeks prior.

Other top performers for the men were freshman Marcus Cheema who ran a season best 1:52.75 in the 800m Run, sophomore Scott Masterson in the 1500m Run (3:54.74) and senior Chris Jernigan in the javelin (44.63).

To go along with Urban's record, the Emory women saw other top performances turned in from by freshman Sarah Fineman in the shot put (12.93m), junior Hope Jackson in the discus (41.26m) and the 4x400m Relay team of Dashiel Tao Harris, sophomore Libby Ranocha, freshman Kayla Binetti and senior Hannah Lansberry.
