Results
The Emory University men's cross country team, ranked
34th nationally, enjoyed a fine performance at the Berry
College Invitational on Saturday, posting a second-place finish out
of 13 teams.
The Eagles of head coach John Curtin registered 69 points and
finished runner-up to Shorter College’s top mark of 20
points. Host Berry College was third with 84 points while
Bryan College (150 pts.) and the University of West Georgia (151
pts.) rounded out the top five.
A pair of sophomores, Scott Jarvis and Stephen Ellwood, led the way
for Emory with Jarvis clocking an 8k time of 27:16, good for
10th place in the 11-runner field, while Jarvis crossed
the finish line in 27:19, placing him 11th
overall. Freshman Chuck Ashforth was the No. 3 Emory runner
to score with his effort of 27:20 slotting him
15th. Senior Jon Usry (27:32, 20th) and
junior Geraint Davies (27:40, 22nd) were the other Emory
entries to score.
Emory returns to action on Oct. 2 when it competes at the
Louisville Classic.
