Jack Whetstone Tabbed As UAA Cross Country Athlete Of The Week

Emory University junior Jack Whetstone (Glenview, IL) has been named by the University Athletic Association as Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his performance at the JSU Struts Opener held on Oxford, Alabama. It represents the first time in his cross country career that he has been tabbed for the honor.

Whetstone crossed the finish line in the No. 1 spot out of 159 entries, clocking a 5K time of 15:31.  It marked the second time  that he ranked as Emory's No. 1 runner, and sparked a strong team effort at the Struts Opener that saw the Eagles claim four of the top-seven overall finishing positions.

Emory raced its way to first-place honors out of 15 schools with a total of 15 points, eight better than runner-up Auburn.

The 29th-ranked men's side returns to action on Friday, September 13, when it competes at the UTC Twilight Meet in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
