(May 11) -Emory senior third baseman Liz White
led Emory with a .583 at the NCAA Salisbury Regional.
White picked up hits in all four games that the Eagles played in
and finished with seven hits in 12 trips to the plate.
White went 2-for-3 in helping the Eagles to a 6-0 triumph over
Neumann in second-round action and then followed that effort by
recording three of the squad's six hits in a tough 1-0 11-inning
setback to Bridgewater College.
(Apr. 25) -Junior center fielder Cassie Walsh
turned in a big day as she helped the Eagles post a doubleheader
sweep over Spelman College on Apr. 21.
Walsh went a combined seven-of-eight at the plate in the two
contests while scoring four times and knocking in a pair of runs.
Walsh went four-for-four, scored twice and stole three bases in the
opener as the Eagles unleashed a 14-hit attack in a 9-1 victory.
In the nightcap, Walsh rapped out three more hits and crossed the
plate twice in a 9-0 decision over the Jaguars. Her three safeties
represented her 15th multi-hit outing of the season and boosted her
season average to . 416, good for second place on the team. She
tied for the team lead with 53 hits and has been successful on all
15 of her stolen base attempts.
(Apr. 13) -Freshman left fielder Jessica Thomas
hit a team-high .500 as the Eagles went 2-2 over four
games.
Thomas picked up six hits in 12 trips to the plate, scored a pair
of runs and knocked in one run as the Eagles closed out the week
with an overall record of 28-10. Thomas picked up safeties in all
four outings as she moved into first place on the squad with a .423
batting average. She recorded two hits, including her fifth
home run of the season, in sparking Emory to a 5-2 win over
Bridgewater College on Friday. She picked up two more hits,
her team-leading 16th multi-hit game of the year, and drove in the
team's lone run the following day in a tough 2-1 loss to No.
22-ranked Lynchburg College in the first game of a twinbill.
(Apr. 6) -Senior first baseman Kim Bandy swung
a hot bat last week as the Eagles posted a 2-2 record. Bandy ripped
opposing pitching for a .785 average with 11 hits in 14 trips to
the plate. Among her hits were four doubles and a triple as
the No. 20 Eagles closed out the week with an overall record of
26-8.
Bandy went a combined four-of-seven from the plate in a twinbill
against Reinhardt College before turning in a huge effort in
doubleheader sweep against LaGrange College. In a 9-2
first-game win over the Panthers, she went 4-for-4 at the plate,
scored three runs and knocked in one. Among her safeties in
that contest were a double and a three-bagger. Emory finished
the sweep with an 8-1 triumph with Bandy picking up three hits,
including a pair of doubles, in three plate appearances. She
also scored twice.
Through games played Apr. 5, Bandy leads the team in hitting
(.425), runs scored (30) and triples (7).
(Mar. 23) -Senior right fielder Alyson Moler
enjoyed a big weekend in helping the Eagles to three wins in four
outings at the Maryville College Classic.
Moler hit a team-high .583 over the weekend with seven hits in 12
trips to the plate. She socked a pair of home runs and drove in
five runs in helping the No. 6-ranked Eagles raise their record to
23-5. She registered hits in all four contests and went
three-for-four, including a solo homer, in Saturday's 4-1 triumph
against Baldwin-Wallace. In Sunday's 8-3 decision over Maryville
College, Moler went 2-for-2 with four RBIs. She hit a three-run
homer in the first inning that got the out the gates quickly.
So far this year, she has started all 28 games and is hitting .325
with three homers and 15 RBIs.
(Mar. 16) - Freshman Jessica Thomas had a hot
bat at the UAA Tournament, hitting a team-high .458.
Thomas helped the Eagles to a 5-3 mark at the tourney, picking up a
team-high 11 hits in 24 trips to the plate. In addition, she scored
a team-high seven runs and tied for the club's lead with nine
9RBIs.
She had safeties to her credit in six games and totaled three
multiple-hit contests. In the opening game of the Tournament,
Thomas went three-for-four at the plate and drove in the
game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh in a a 3-2 triumph
over Brandeis.
(Mar. 3) - Senior Kim Bandy turned in a big
weekend in helping the Eagles to wins in three of four
contests.
Bandy hit an impressive .428 with six hits in 14 plate appearances.
Scored scored four runs and drove in six in helping raise its
overall record to 11-1 on the year. In a 5-3 win over Mississippi
College on Friday, she collected a run-producing triple. The
following day , she rapped out four hits in five at-bats, scored
three times and registered two RBIs in a 16-4 triumph over Millsaps
College. In the final game of the weekend, she recorded the team's
lone RBI in a 6-1 setback against Mississippi College.
So far this year, she has started all 12 Emory games and is hitting
.341 with 13 RBIs.
(Feb. 23) - Senior Carey Smith-Marchi enjoyed a
big weekend in helping the Eagles to four wins at the Emory
Classic.
In the four games, Smith-Marchi hit .636, going 7-for-11 at the
plate, drove in a total of nine runs and crossed the plate six
times herself. In a 7-0 win over Huntingdon College on
Saturday, she went 2-for-2 at the plate, including a solo home run,
and drove in a pair if runs. She finished off that day by
collecting three hits in four trips to the plate in helping the
Eagles to a five-inning, 9-0 triumph over Rhodes College. Her
three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth closed out that
contest. In the final game of the Classic, she knocked in
three RBIs, and scored twice as Emory recorded an 8-1 win over
Huntingdon.
So far this season, Smith-Marchi has hit safely in six of the
team's eight games and posts a batting average of .417
(10-for-24). She is second on the club in both homers (2) and
RBIs (13).
(Feb. 16) - Freshman Jessica Thomas turned in a
memorable opening weekend as a collegian as she helped the Eagles
to a 4-0 mark at the Emory Invitational.
Thomas hit .615 in the Invitational, going 8-for-13 at the plate,
hitting three home runs, and driving in 14 runs. In the
team's season-opening 15-1 win against Maryville, she blasted a
pair of round trippers and racked up eight RBIs, the third-highest
single-game mark in school history. She followed that
performance by picking up two more safeties including the
game-winning RBI in a 1-0 eight-inning triumph over Greensboro. On
the second day of action, Thomas recorded the game-winning RBI in
an 8-0 decision over Greensboro. In the final game of the
Invitational against Maryville, Thomas registered a pair of hits in
three trips to the plate, including a two-run homer in the fourth
inning that put Emory ahead for good in an eventual 9-3 win.
