Junior left fielder Jessica Thomas swung a
potent bat over the weekend in helping the Eagles to a 4-0 mark at
the Birmingham Southern Invitational. Thomas hit .417 with
five hits in 12 plate appearances. In addition, she tied for
the team lead with four RBIs, three of which were
game-winners. Four of her five were hits were of the
extra-base variety including a pair of homers. After going
2-for-3 and scoring the eventual game-winning run in a 3-2 win over
Greensboro in the opening game of the Invitational on Saturday, she
came through with a 3-run homer, and scored what proved to be the
deciding run in a 6-4 decision over BSC. In Sunday’s
1-0 win over BSC in the final game of the weekend, she accounted
for the contest’s lone run when she homered in the fourth
inning, her third of the campaign.
