Junior Ally Kersthold hit .625 in a
doubleheader split at No. 11-ranked Piedmont.
Kersthold collected five hits in eight plate appearances and drove
in four runs over the two games that left Emory's record at 38-2 on
the year. In a 12-2 win in the opener, Kersthold delivered
three hits, including a pair of doubles, scored twice and knocked
in three runs. She scored the squad's first run of the game
in the top of the first and singled in her first run the following
frame. In the third inning, her two-out double helped the
team increase its lead to 7-0.
In the nightcap, she hit safely twice, singling in the Eagles'
second run of the game and then scoring the team's final run after
leading off the fourth inning with a single.
So far this season, Ally has started 36 of the 39 games she has
seen action in and is hitting at a .339 clip with 37 hits (second
high on the squad) in 109 trips to the plate. She is tied for
second on the team with 10 doubles and has 29 RBIs.
