Junior catcher Micah Scharff hit .400
over a three-game stretch that saw the Emory softball team compile
a 2-1 record.
Scharff collected four hits in 10 plate appearances and socked a
team-high tying three homers while knocking in a team-best 11 runs
as the Eagles closed out the week with an overall record of 29-6.
In the second game of a doubleheader against Lynchburg College,
Scharff turned in a 2-for-4 hitting performance, including a
three-run homer in the top of the first inning that staked Emory to
a 4-0 lead. In the squad's final action of the weekend, a 15-1
drubbing of Roanoke College, Scharff tied the program's
third-highest individual game effort with 8 RBIs, while going
2-for-3 at the plate. After driving in a run on a sacrifice fly in
the first inning, Scharff blasted a three-run homer as part of an
eight-run frame and later hit a grand slam, her fourth round
tripper of the season, that closed out the game's
scoring.
