Sophomore Hannah Sendel enjoyed a huge weekend in helping the
No. 9-ranked Eagles to win four wins.
Sendel hit an astounding .923 with 12 hits in 13 plate appearances
as Emory recorded two wins apiece over Agnes Scott and Spalding
University. Sendel topped the team with 12 RBIs, six runs
scored, four doubles and three homers, closing out the weekend with
a 1.923 slugging percentage. She accounted for all four
GWRBIs as Emory boosted its season record to 20-0.
Sendel hit safely in her first 12 at-bats during the weekend, and
posted a 7-for-7 effort with seven RBIs during Saturday's two
games. In an 8-0 triumph (5 inn.) over Agnes Scott, she went
3-for-3 with 5 RBIs, including the game winner on a single in the
first inning. She hit a solo homer in the third frame that
stretched the Eagles' lead to 5-0, and drove in the squad's final
three runs on a bases-loaded clearing double in the fourth.
She followed that performance with a 4-for-4 effort at the
plate in a 7-6 decision over Spalding. She knocked in a pair
of runs including the team's final tally on a two-out double in the
sixth inning that gave Emory a 7-3 lead.
On Sunday, she hit safely in all three of her plate appearances,
scored three runs and picked up two RBIs in a 8-0, five-inning
verdict vs. Spalding. She opened the team's scoring with a
solo homer in the top of the second and later singled in a run as
part of a four-run fourth inning. In the weekend's finale vs.
Agnes Scott she picked up hits in her first two at-bats including a
three-run homer that jumped-started an eight-run third inning, in
an eventual 8-0 outcome.
