Janelle Turnquest

Janelle Turnquest

Freshman Janelle Turnquest led Emory in hitting over a six-game stretch that saw the Eagles post a 3-3 record.

Turnquest posted a .526 hitting effort, collecting a team-high tying 10 hits in 19 at bats.  She tied for the team lead with three doubles and also hit one home run while finishing with three RBIs.  She hit safely in all six contests and recorded two hits on four occasions.

One of her performances was a 2-for-3 effort at the plate with a double and home run to her credit, while totaling three ribbies, in an 8-6 victory over Shorter University. Her two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth drove in what proved to be the winning runs in that game.  She helped Emory to a 3-1 decision over Maryville College in the first game of a doubleheader striking a pair of doubles in four trips to the plate. In the finale of that twinbill, a 13-4 victory, one of her two hits was a triple.

On the year, she is hitting .339 (20-of-59).
