Ashley Powers

Ashley Powers

Sophomore Ashley Powers was the team's leading hitter in helping the Emory softball team to a 4-0 record.

The second-year first baseman posted a .667 mark at the plate, collecting a team-high tying 10 hits in 15 trips to the plate. She knocked in six runs, second on the squad over that four-game stretch, and hit one home run while delivering a pair of doubles. Her homer was a three-run shot and proved to be the GWRBI in an 8-0 decision over the LaGrange College in the first game of a twinbill. Earlier in the week, Powers went a combined 7-for-8 hitting performance in a pair of wins vs. Wesleyan College. In the first contest, a five-inning, 12-0 victory, Powers went 4-for-4 with two RBIs, and then followed that with three hits in four plate appearances (2 doubles) in a 7-2 triumph.

Powers hit safely in all four outings and now owns a 15-game hitting streak, the longest by an Emory player this season. She is second on the squad and sixth among UAA performers in hitting (.433).
