Four members of the Emory University softball squad have been selected to the 2017 All-University Athletic Association Team.  The all-league honorees were chosen by the conference coaches based on their entire play this season. 

The Eagles of head coach Penny Siqueiros placed three players on the All-UAA First Team and one on the second team. 

Senior pitcher Brittany File (Carmel, CA) highlighted the Emory contingent with her second straight selection to the first team.  File has crafted a 13-4 record, with her win total good for the No. 2 spot among conference players.  File has tossed 116 1/3 innings, third most in the UAA, and has totaled 11 complete games in 13 starts.  The league's leader with 157 strikeouts, she holds down the No. 8 spot in the D-III ranks in strikeouts per seven innings (9.45). The owner of a 1.81 ERA, she has fanned 10 or more batters on four occasions this year, including a season-high 14 in a seven-inning no-hitter vs. Averett. She was named UAA Pitcher of the Week (Apr. 10) after registering 13 scoreless innings and 21 punch-outs in three appearances against Brandeis.  She came through with back-to-back complete-game shutouts in a doubleheader sweep of Brandeis (Apr. 8) and became the school's all-time leader in wins (74) after an 8-0 triumph over the Judges.

Freshman Jessie Michael (Bishop, GA) garnered a first-team nod and was also tabbed as the UAA Rookie of the Year, the second straight campaign (Cassie Baca, 2016) and 10^th overall that an Eagle had earned that distinction. Michael has given the Emory offense a big boost, ranking third on the team and 12^th in the league in hitting (.364).  She has a team-best 32 RBIs to her credit, second in the UAA, and has tallied a team-high 10 multi-RBI games.  She tops the squad and is seventh in the UAA in slugging percentage (.551).  Michael enjoyed a huge four-game set against Case Western where she hit .529 (9 of 17) with 13 RBIs and seven runs scored.

After being named to the second team a year ago, senior Taylor Forte (Pleasantville, NY) rounded out the Eagle trio of first-team honorees. A starter in left field in all 38 games, Forte paces the team and is second in the UAA with a hitting mark of .436.  He has 51 hits to her credit and has notched a team-leading 16 multi-hit games this year. She is the conference leader with a .538 on-base percentage, with that mark 32^nd nationally. Named the UAA Hitter of the Week (Mar. 27) after a torrid six-game stretch that saw her hit .619 on the strength of a team-high 13 hits in 21 plate appearances. She registered two hits in three of four games against Washington University (Mar. 31 – Apr. 1), ending that series hitting .538 (7 of 13) with three runs scored.

Sophomore outfielder Sam Vincent (Westerville, OH) rounded out the honorees with her second-team berth. A starter in 31 of her 34 appearances, Vincent is second on the squad and fourth in the conference in hitting (.418).  Fourth on the team with 33 safeties, she has recorded six multi-hit contests. The squad's leader with 15 sacrifice hits, she is tied for third on the team with eight stolen bases. Vincent's 11-game hitting streak (Mar. 17 – Mar. 30) is the team's longest of the year.

Emory finished off the regular season with an overall record of 25-13 and finished second in the UAA with a ledger of 8-6.  The Eagles will hear as to what may await them in the postseason when the NCAA D-III Tournament bids are announced on May 8.
