Spizizen Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA D-III National Pitcher Of The Week

Emory University freshman Jacqueline Spizizen (West Bloomfield, MI) has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA D-III National Pitcher of the Week after helping the Eagles to a series sweep at Washington University.

Spizizen accounted for three of Emory's four wins, allowing just one unearned run in 17 innings and striking out 13 while surrendering eight hits and walking one. The right-hander saw action in all four games and kept the WU bats in check with the Bears hitting just .136 against her.

So far this year, Spizizen has compiled a won-lost mark of 11-4 to go along with an ERA of 1.64 over 77 innings in the circle.

Following the Wash U series, Emory now has a 10-game win streak and stands 17-7 overall and 8-0 in the University Athletic Association play. The Eagles, ranked 20th in this week's NFCA D-III Top 25 Poll, head to Brandeis this Friday and Saturday (Apr. 13-14) for a four-game series against the Judges.
