Mattie Ryan

Freshman Mattie Ryan swung a big bat in helping the Emory softball team capture three wins in a four-game series at Washington University.

Ryan hit .455, collecting five hits in 11 at-bats, while scoring four runs and registering a team-high eight RBIs. In the final two games of the series against the Bears, Ryan socked three home runs and drove in eight as the Eagles came away with a pair of run-rule victories. In a five-inning 9-0 verdict, she went 2-for-3 which included a two-out, two-run homer in the top of the fourth (her first career home run) staking Emory to a 2-0 edge and that proved to be the GWRBI. Later in the contest, she socked another two-run round tripper as part of a seven-run fifth inning. In the series finale, a 13-3 Emory win in five innings, Ryan kept up the pace, picking up two more hits, knocking in four run and scoring twice. She smacked a two-out, two-run single in the top of the first that plated the initial two runs of a four-run frame and later delivered a two-run homer in the fourth that pushed Emory to an 11-3 cushion.

On the year, Ryan is hitting .354 (23-of-65) and is tied for third on the club with 19 RBIs.
