Sami Feller & Toko Miller Capture UAA Softball Honors

Emory University junior Sami Feller (Coral Springs, FL) and senior Toko Miller (Prescott, AZ) have been recognized by the University Athletic Association as the Softball Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, after helping the Eagles to a series sweep at Brandeis University that allowed the Eagles to capture the conference title.  It is the third time this year and in her career that Feller has been recognized by the league office, while Miller has garnered the award on three occasions during her career.

Feller posted a team-high hitting mark of .615, pacing the squad with eight hits in 13 at-bats. In addition, she scored a team-high seven runs and tied for the No. 1 mark with six RBIs. She closed out the weekend leading the Eagles in both slugging percentage (.923) and on-base percentage (.643).

Sami hit safely in all four contests, boosting her hitting streak to nine games, and registered RBIs in every outing against the Judges. In the series opener, Feller went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three ribbies as the Eagles rolled to a five-inning, 12-3 victory.  One of Feller's hits was a three-run homer in the top of the fifth, her second round tripper of the season, which staked Emory to an 11-3 cushion.  In the second game, Feller chalked up two hits and knocked in what proved to be the GWRBI with a single in the fourth that plated Jenna Wilson in an eventual 6-3 victory. In a come-from-behind 3-2 triumph on Sunday, she hit safely twice, knocked in the team's first run of the game with a two-out single in the first and then later scored the game-winning run in the top of the sixth following a double by Mattie Ryan.  On the season, Feller leads the team in hitting (.398), slugging percentage (.566) and on-base percentage (.456).

Miller won two games in the series, compiling an ERA of 2.62 over eight innings of action. She surrendered three earned runs and eight hits while striking out two.

Miller went all five innings in the series opener, allowing seven hits and fanning one. She pocketed her second win in the series after a three-inning relief effort that saw her give up one run and one hit in a 3-2 decision.  So far this season, Toko has crafted a won-lost mark of 9-2 to go along with an ERA of 2.88 over 94 2/3 innings of work.

Emory, 30-10 on the year, will hear as to what the postseason holds for it when the NCAA Selection airs on May 6 at 1:00 pm (EDT) on ncaa.com.
