The Emory softball program will be one of 62 teams vying for first place when it begins the postseason by competing in the 2019 NCAA D-III Demorest, Georgia Regional. Action begins on Friday and runs through Sunday (May 10-12) with Piedmont College serving as the host. The Regional had originally been scheduled to take place in Atlanta but was re-located Tuesday evening.
The Eagles of Head Coach Adrianna Baggetta, who enter the upcoming weekend as the Regional's No. 1 seed, stand 30-10 on the year and are making their 16th trip to the NCAAs in the 21-year history of the program. Emory's opening foe on Friday in the double-elimination event will be Emory & Henry (26-16) from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Wasps finished second in the ODAC during the regular season and fourth in the conference tournament. Preceding that game will Transylvania University (28-11), champions of the Heartland Conference, squaring off against USA South Conference Tournament runner-up Piedmont College (29-10).

Forty-two conferences received an automatic qualification (Pool A). Emory was one of two schools who received a Pool B, which includes independent institutions and institutions from conferences that do not meet the automatic qualification criteria. The 18 remaining teams were selected on an at-large basis from automatic qualifying conferences and the remaining institutions in Pool B.
The field of 62 teams is split into 16 regionals with 14 four-team sites and two three-team sites.
Emory closed out the regular season with a flourish, winning eight of its last nine games including a regular-season ending sweep of No. 20 Brandeis that allowed it to lay claim to the program's 12th-ever University Athletic Association crown.
