Emory University junior Megan Weisenberg has been recognized by the University Athletic Association as Softball Hitter of the Week following her performance in a doubleheader sweep at Huntingdon College on April 11. It is the first time in her career that she has been selected for the honor.
Weisenberg hit a solid .714 over the two contests, delivering five hits in seven plate appearances. She scored three runs and finished with a team-best five RBIs.
In the first game, an 8-0 win in five innings, Megan went 2-for-3 in the batter's box, scored a run and totaled one RBI. She followed that performance by hitting safely on three occasions, scoring twice and driving in four runs, the final three coming on a round tripper in the top of the seventh that closed out the team's scoring in a 13-2 win.
So far this year, Weisenberg is hitting .435 (10-for-23) and tops the squad with 11 RBIs.
Emory, 5-1 on the campaign, is scheduled to return to action on Apr. 27 when it hosts Piedmont College in a twinbill.
