Softball Drops Series Opener to NYU on Friday Night

The Emory University softball team lost the series opener against NYU after a late inning rally from the Violets on Friday night in New York.

The Eagles drop to 14-13 on the season and sit 4-4 in UAA play while the Violets improve to 15-10 and sit 4-5 in UAA action.

Freshman Mackenzie Duford had an impressive outing on the mound for Emory striking out six batters over six innings of work and did not allow a single earned run.

The game was held scoreless until the top of the sixth inning. Duford brought in the two runs for the Eagles after reaching on a fielding error to bring in sophomore Kayla Lang and junior Page Nellis.

The Violets answered in the bottom half of the sixth scoring two runs on a single followed by the third run on another single.

The Eagles will play NYU again on Saturday, April 8 in a doubleheader starting at 12 pm followed by the series conclusion on Sunday, April 9 at 10 am.
