Emory University freshman Allison Chernow has been selected to play for the United States Open Women's Basketball Team at the 20th World Maccabiah Games, which will take place July 4-18, 2017 in Israel.
The 5-foot-6 Chernow, a native of Dresher, Pa., played in all 25 Emory contests during the 2016-17 season, nine as a starter, and averaged 19.8 minutes, 6.0 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. She recorded six double-figure scoring games, including a season-high 15 points against Rhodes College (Jan. 2), a contest that also saw her post a double-double, finishing with 10 rebounds. She was second on the squad with 24 three-point field goals and turned in seven games with two or more treys. She finished second on the squad and fourth among University Athletic Association players with an average of 3.2 assists per game.
Serving as the head coach of the USA Team will be Sherry Levin, while Jennifer Cosgrove is the assistant. Levin is currently the head coach at the Worcester Academy (MA) while Cosgrove is an assistant at Fordham.

Maccabi USA will bring a team of over 1,100 athletes who will join the 8,750 Jewish athletes from 80 countries, participating in 43 different sports. Since 1932, over 62,000 athletes have participated in the Maccabiah Games, in a celebration of Jewish Strength and Solidarity.
