Emory Women's Basketball Continues Spain Trip

Emory Women's Basketball Continues Spain Trip

Day 2 started with a yummy complimentary breakfast at the hotel AND free water! We then got on the bus and napped for an hour as we made our way to Toledo, Spain.  Toledo is filled with many ancient buildings and winding, cobbled streets as wide as Benna and Ashley's wingspan.  It is a very cute city with picturesque views.  Toledo is where Shellie found her new wedding venue, Erin mastered "the Fran," Misha found a new vein in her neck, and Shue and Erin went to prom!

Toledo is known for its lack of straight line roads, so we walked to the famous Cathedral through many different alleyways.  The Cathedral is a stunning piece of architecture with exquisite, gothic artwork lining each and every wall and ceiling and nothing in the US compares.

Next, Carmen took us to her house where we walked through an alleyway of different pastel colors.  Her home is a typical Toledo design with an open courtyard in the bottom of the complex.

The main square was the next destination and from there we were on our own to eat, shop, and walk around.  We ate traditional Spanish food on an outdoor patio and explored some of the unique shops in the city, including the ice cream shop, of course.  When we met up to head back to Madrid, Misha and Karli, our trainer, had bought a new toy.  They each bought Toledo steel swords (aka the swords from Aragon).

Before our dinner tapas crawl, we had a few hours to ourselves.  During those few hours we shopped our way through the streets of Madrid.  For the tapas crawl, Leo and Carmen took us to 4 different pubs and/or restaurants where we ordered family style tapas.

Last but certainly not least, we found a pastry shop and treated ourselves to a delicious dessert to end the night.

Despite the little bit of rain, today was the best day yet!
