Emory Women's Basketball On The Move In Spain

Emory Women's Basketball On The Move In Spain

Today we made our trainer Karli's dream come true and visited the Real Madrid stadium.  We got to see a museum of all the players and trophies, the field, locker rooms, benches, and even take (photoshopped) pictures with Christiano Ronaldo.  The museum section was a little more high tech than our Woodpec timeline, and showed the history of the soccer and basketball teams, highlight reels, interview videos, as well as dozens of team and individual trophies.  Sitting on the team's bench was probably the highlight though because it may be the comfiest chairs we have ever sat in.  I think we all agreed that no one would mind being a bench warmer for Real Madrid.

Throughout all of this, we also got our first experience navigating the Madrid subway system.  After a hearty nap, we headed to the gym for the first time and got to practice on the court we will be playing on tomorrow night.  It was definitely an adjustment but was interesting to learn more about the international rules and court for women's basketball.  We also got to add two new tapas restaurants to our list for lunch and dinner.  Overall, I would say that Real Madrid may have gotten several new fans today and siestas have become our best friend.
