Day 2 In Barcelona For Emory Women's Basketball Team

Day 2 in Barcelona started off with a driving tour of the city. Our first stop was a scenic panoramic view of Barcelona. Our guide, Mary, explained the geography of Barcelona to us and also pointed out several points of interest, including the ferries that commute from Italy and the world trade center.

From there, we continued our bus tour and drove through the city to get to Park Güell. On our way, we saw the marina as well as the old town and its walls. Once we were arrived at Park Güell, we learned that this famous park was a housing project sponsored by Güell in 1900 to celebrate nature that was ultimately never completed. Instead, the area became protected by the town and preserved as a national park.

In the evening, we celebrated Coach T's birthday with a surprise dinner on the beach. Collectively we ate a variety of delicious seafood including paella, giant sea bass, salmon, and squid. We ended the dinner with presents and cake (curtesy of our guide Carmen). Afterwards we took a walk along the marina, seeing the boats and relaxing for the rest of the night.
