Emory's Ashley Oldshue Named D3Hoops.Com Preseason All-American

Emory University junior Ashley Oldshue has drawn some recognition as the 2017-18 campaign quickly approaches with her selection as a D3hoops.com Preseason All-American.  Oldshue was pegged as a fourth-team pick, making her one of three University Athletic Association players to be recognized with the preseason honor.

The 6-foot-2 Oldshue enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2016-17, earning First Team All-University Athletic Association honors while landing Second Team All-South Region accolades as chosen by D3hoops.com.  A starter in all 25 Emory contests, she averaged a team-high 16.5 points per game, good for fifth place among the UAA leaders and the No. 6 spot on the program's seasonal chart.  Oldshue scored in double figures on 24 occasions and connected on a team-best 55.4 percent (150-of-271) of her field goal attempts, good for third place in the UAA and 31st among all D-III players. In addition, she was Emory's top performer on the glass, averaging 7.1 boards per contest, with that mark ranking sixth in the conference.

Heading into her third season at Emory, Oldshue has appeared in 48 games, 31 as a starter, and ranks No. 3 all-time in program history in field goal percentage (.526, 183-348) and fourth in free throw percentage (.789, 135-of-171).

Other league players who were selected as preseason All-Americans included senior Alexandra Leslie (1st Team) of Rochester and junior Madeline Homoly (2nd Team) of Washington University.

This year, Oldshue is one of eight returning veterans from last season's squad that finished with an overall record of 15-10.  Emory will take on Rhodes College at the Woodruff PE Center in the 2017-18 season opener on Wednesday, November 15. Game time is set for 6:00 pm.
