Emory Women's Basketball Defeats Berry

Senior Ashley Oldshue led five double-figure scorers with 19 points in sparking the Emory women's basketball team to a Saturday evening win at home over Berry College.  The Eagles upped their record to 6-4 following a 78-65 triumph over the Vikings who fell to 5-6.

Emory ended the game shooting 48.3 percent (29-60) from the floor, its second-highest effort of the season, and drained 36 percent (9-25) from three-point range, with the squad's nine triples tying a season high.  Berry connected on 38.1 percent (24-63) of its field goal opportunities, including 40 percent (6-15) from distance.

NOTES
** Oldshue registered her fourth double-double of the year and eighth of her career, finishing the night with a season-high 15 rebounds, tying her second-highest career total.  She converted seven-of-eight field goal attempts and five-of-six from the charity stripe in notching her eighth double-figure scoring effort in as many outings.
** Sophomore Erin Lindahl was second on the squad with 16 points, her seventh double-digit outing of the campaign, going seven-of-15 from the field, which included a pair of treys.
** Freshman Blair Ripley notched her second straight and third double-figure scoring performance, totaling 13 points, draining five field goals in nine tries, including two triples in three attempts.
** Junior Azzairia Jackson-Sherrrod and freshman Lynn Johnson each chipped in a dozen points, with Johnson hitting a season-high three three-pointers and Jackson-Sherrod successful on five-of-six from the floor.
** Emory tied a season high with five different players hitting at least one three-point field goal.
**Emory dished out a season-high 24 assists on its 29 baskets.
** The Eagle bench produced a season-high 37 points vs. 17 for the Berry reserves.
** Sophomore Lindsey Tse dished out eight assists, tying her second-highest total of the campaign.
** Tse has 164 career assists, just two shy of tying LeShonda Lillard (2007-09) for 20th place on the program's all-time list.
** With Oldshue and Ripley scoring nine and five points, respectively, Emory scored a season-high 26 points in the opening quarter en route to claiming a 10-point lead.
** Lindahl accounted for eight points in helping Emory to a 20-point second quarter, the second time this year it had registered back-to-back stanzas of 20 or more points.
** A 14-2 blitz over a four-minute stretch in the second quarter doubled an Emory lead, putting it ahead by a 22-point margin, 42-20, with 4:40 left, with the Eagles staking themselves to a 46-26 bulge at the break.
**Berry accounted for the first nine points in the third quarter to slice its deficit to 11 points with 6:34 left.
** After an Oldshue basket, the Vikings kept charging, rattling off a 10-2 run that drew them to within five points with 2:37 remaining in the third. However, Emory scored seven of the final 10 points of the quarter, started by a three-pointer by Ripley, to go up by a 57-48 margin heading into the final frame.
** The Eagles regained control of the game with an impressive 11-2 run to open the fourth, capped by a Johnson triple, racing to a 68-50 advantage with 6:31 left in the game.

Emory returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 2) when it plays at Oglethorpe in a 6:00 pm start.
