Emory Women's Basketball Battles Chicago & Wash U In UAA Road Action

GAME FACTS – The Emory women's basketball team will begin the second half of the University Athletic Association schedule by facing a pair of teams that closed out the first half of league action.  On Friday (Feb. 2) the Eagles square off against the University of Chicago before matching-up with Washington University on Sunday.

The Ratner Athletics Center on the Chicago campus will serve as the site of the 59th meeting between the Eagles and Maroons with that contest starting at 7:00 pm (EST).  On Sunday, the WU Field House on the Wash U campus will be the venue for the 59th contest between Emory and the Bears which is slated for a 2:00 pm (EST) start.

THE COACHES – Interim Head Coach Misha Jackson (Emory, '13) was appointed to her current post in October of this year, following the resignation of Christy Thomaskutty.  Jackson had served as an assistant on the Eagles' staff since the 2013-14 season.  She played three seasons in an Eagle uniform (2010-11 through 2012-13), seeing action in a total of 78 games, 69 in a starting capacity. She closed out her career ranked among the program's top-10 all-time performers in 11 categories.

Jackson is assisted by Lauren Rothfeld and Chuck Melito.

Carissa Sain Knoche (Carnegie Mellon, '05) is in her sixth season at the helm of the Chicago program.  Heading into the new week, she has posted a school record of 91-54.  Last year, Sain Knoche and her assistants were named the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year.

In her first campaign patrolling the sidelines at Wash U is Randi Henderson (Iowa, '01). Prior to her appointment in June of 2017, Henderson had spent two years as an assistant coach at Charlotte.  In 11 years as a head coach, which includes a nine-year run at Coe College and one season at Minnesota-Morris, Henderson claims a career slate of 184-106.

2017-18 RECORDS – Emory posts an overall record of 10-8, including a 4-3 effort in the UAA that is good for a third-place tie. The Eagles are looking to get back into the win column after dropping home decisions this past weekend to Chicago (79-61) and Washington University (78-64).

Sophomore Allison Chernow came off the bench to lead the Emory scoring attack with a career-high 17 points in the Chicago contest while sophomore Erin Lindahl and junior Ashley Oldshue contributed 13 and 11 points, respectively.   Lindahl and Oldshue deadlocked for team scoring honors against WU with 17 points each, with Lindahl snatching 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the campaign.  Junior Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod added 16 points to the cause.
