Junior Allison Chernow led four double-figure scorers with 16 points in helping the Emory women's basketball team to a Friday evening road win at Berry College.  The Eagles won their third straight contest and upped their record to 5-2 following a 68-62 victory over the Vikings who slipped to 2-4.

Chernow ended the contest five-of-12 from the floor, including two-of-five from three-point range, and converted four of her six free throws in registering her fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season.   The senior tandem of Ashley Oldshue and Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod each totaled 14 points, with Oldshue pacing the club with eight rebounds, while junior Erin Lindahl rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points.  Junior Lindsey Tse dished out six assists and finished with seven boards. 

After the clubs battled to a 34-34 standoff at halftime, the Eagles used an 18-8 third-quarter scoring edge to take control of the game.  An 8-0 run that saw Chernow sink a triple and Oldshue score three points erased a one-point deficit and provided the Eagles with a 44-37 advantage.  After a Berry free throw, baskets by Chernow and Oldshue extended Emory's margin to 48-38 with 3:13 left in the frame.  The Eagles would take a 52-42 cushion into the final stanza after a layup by junior Safiya Dzotsi just as time expired closed out the scoring in the third quarter.

A three-pointer by Lindahl to open the final quarter gave the Eagles their largest lead of the game at 55-42, but seven straight points by the hosts cut Emory's margin to six points with 7:46 on the clock.  After a bucket by Oldshue pushed Emory to a 61-53 lead with 4:45 remaining, five straight points by the Vikings' Eveline Parsons drew them to within three points. Holding a four-point lead, free throws by Chernow and Oldshue extend the Eagles to a 66-60 margin with 26 ticks on the clock.  The Vikings stayed alive after a basket by Madeline Sandman, but two free throws by Chernow with nine seconds left closed out the game's scoring.

Emory shot a season-high 54 percent (27-of-50) from the floor compared to Berry's 44 percent (22-of-50).  The Eagles enjoyed a 31-23 bulge in rebounding, the fourth time this season they finished with the higher number than the opposition in that category.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, Dec. 8, when they host Birmingham Southern in a 4:00 pm start.
