Oldshue's Career Afternoon Helps Women's Basketball Push Win Streak to Six

Senior Ashley Oldshue's career afternoon carried the Emory University Women's Basketball team to its sixth consecutive win on Saturday as the Eagles topped Rhodes University, 60-49, in Memphis, TN.

Oldshue poured in 28 points, tying her previous career-high, tied the program's single-game record with six blocked shots and collected nine rebounds to lead the team to the 11-point victory. Oldshue was on fire from the floor, finishing 11-of-14 in field goal attempts and 6-of-6 from the line as she tied her previous high mark in points set back on January 12th, 2018 in a win over Carnegie Mellon University while her six blocks marked just the third time an Emory player registered six blocked shots in a game and the first since Head Coach Misha Jackson accomplished the feat in 2013. Oldshue's six swats also gave her 95 in her career, moving her into a tie with Coach Jackson for second place on the all-time list.

Oldshue was one of three Eagle scorers that reached double figures as classmate Azzairia Jackson-Sherrod netted 11 points with eight boards with junior Erin Lindahl chipped in with 10 including a pair of triples, going 2-for-4 from behind the three-point line. Emory closed out the contest with a 44-percent field goal percentage and went 13-of-14 from the charity stripe.

After leading by a slim 22-20 margin at the break, Emory proceeded to go on a 16-1 run to open the third highlighted by a 14-0 spurt over a 5:47 minute stretch in the period. The Eagles remained in front by double digits until the Lynx cut the deficit to eight with 1:03 left to play but a 6-0 run by the visitors during the final minute of regulation helped seal the win.

Emory will return to the court New Year's Day with a non-conference matchup at Maryville College beginning at 3:00 PM before travelling to the University of Rochester on Saturday, January 5th for the University Athletic Association opener.
