Ashley Oldshue Earns UAA Basketball Honor

Emory University senior Ashley Oldshue (Glenview, IL) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Women's Co-Basketball Player of the Week after helping the Eagles to wins over a pair of South Region foes.  Oldshue shares the honor with Case Western Reserve's Hillary Hellman, and represents the first time that she has been a recipient of the league's award.

The 6-foot-2 Oldshue averaged 22 points and 7.0 rebounds in victories over Rhodes College and Maryville that boosted the squad's overall record to 9-2.  She knocked down 72 percent (18-of-25) of her field goal attempts and converted eight-of-her nine free throw opportunities.

Oldshue turned in a stellar all-around performance in the 60-49 decision over Rhodes, leading all players with a career-high tying 28 points that saw her connect on 11-of-14 field goal attempts and six-of-six from the charity stripe.  Oldshue's offensive effort represented the second-highest point total by an Emory player this year and tied for 17th place on the school's single-game chart.  In addition, she paced all players with nine rebounds and her game-high six blocked shots tied the program's single-game record.  Oldshue followed that outing with a game-high 16 points in a 68-52 victory over Maryville, ending that contest seven-of-11 from the floor and two-of-three from the stripe.  Oldshue scored 10 points over the final two quarters in helping the Eagles to a 40-25 scoring advantage.

On the year, Ashley leads the team in scoring (16.5 ppg), rebounding (7.4 rpg), field goal percentage (.596) and blocked shots (29).  She has scored in double figures on 10 occasions and has a pair of double-doubles to her credit.
