Emory Women's Basketball Pulls Away To Win At Carnegie Mellon

Junior Erin Lindahl totaled a season-high 21 points and the Emory women's basketball team kept its postseason hopes alive on Sunday after registering a win at Carnegie Mellon University.  The Eagles won for the eighth time in the past nine outings and raised their overall record to 18-6, 9-4 in the University Athletic Association, following a 57-46 triumph over the Tartans who fell to 12-12 overall, 2-10 in the conference.

Lindahl, who totaled 14 second-half points, closed out the contest eight-of-11 from the field, including a career-high tying five three-point field goals in seven attempts, in posting her sixth straight and 15th double-figure scoring performance of the campaign. Junior Allison Chernow tossed in 14 points, hitting three triples to raise her season total to 47, good for 10th place on the program's seasonal chart, while senior Ashley Oldshue rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points.  Junior Lindsey Tse dished out seven assists, her 14th outing with six or more in a game this season.

Lindahl scored the Eagles' opening 11 points in the fourth quarter, keyed by three triples, fueling a  14-2 run to start the frame that gave Emory a 53-33 lead with 5:19 on the clock.  The blitz to open the final stanza was part of an overall 22-4 blitz that began over the final 3:46 of the third quarter that saw Emory score eight of the final 10 points of the frame, five coming from Oldshue.

For the game Emory converted 36.2 percent (21-of-58) from the floor vs. the Tartans' performance of 34.8 percent (16-of-46). The Eagles knocked down nine treys, high for a UAA game this year and second highest of the season, in 23 opportunities for a mark of 39.1 percent while CMU was successful on five-of-10 from distance.  The Eagles enjoyed a 41-32 advantage in rebounding with sophomore Blair Ripley leading them with eight boards.

The Eagles, who have clinched at least a third-place finish with a chance of tying for second in the league, close out their regular season next Saturday (Feb. 23) when they host Rochester in a 2:00 pm start.
