Emory Women's Basketball Lands Three On All-UAA Team

Three members of the 2018-19 Emory University women's basketball squad have been selected to the All-University Athletic Association Team.  The all-league picks were chosen by the conference coaches.

Senior Ashley Oldshue (Glenview, IL) was tabbed as a first-team honoree for the third straight season, while juniors Erin Lindahl (Yardley, PA) and Allison Chernow (Dresher, PA) were tabbed to the second team.

The 6-foot-2 Oldshue has been a key cog in the Eagles' success this season, ranking among the UAA's top 10 performers in a host of statistical categories. A double-figure scorer in 23 of her 25 appearances, Oldshue is averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game, good for fourth place on the conference ladder and seventh on the school's seasonal chart. She has ranked as the club's top scorer in 17 games and has tallied 20 or more points on seven occasions, including a career-high 30 in a 70-57 victory over Brandeis back on Jan. 25.  Chosen as the UAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week four times this season, she holds down the top spot in the conference with a 55.3 field goal percentage (163-of-295) mark, good for 30th place in the Division III ranks (through Feb. 24) and sixth on the program's seasonal chart. The squad's top rebounder in 14 outings, her per-game average of 8.1 slots her in the fifth position among league performers.  She has recorded 10 or more boards in eight outings, six of which came in conference play.  The owner of seven double-doubles (pts./rebs.) this season, her 202 caroms place her 14th on the Eagles' seasonal chart.   She paces the Eagles with a school-record 54 blocked shots and her 2.2 per-game average in that category is second in the UAA.  In conference play, Oldshue was fourth on the UAA chart in scoring average (16.4 ppg), third in field goal percentage (.525, 95-of-153), third in rebounding (8.6 rpg) and ninth in free throw percentage (.755, 37-of-49).  Oldshue becomes just the second player in Emory women's basketball history to land three All-UAA First Team berths, joining Alicia Moore (1996-98) in that exclusive club.

The 5-foot-6 Chernow, a starter in 21 of the team's 25 games, stands second on the team's scoresheet with a 13.0 points-per-game-average, good for eighth among UAA players. Second on the club with 17 double-figure scoring contests, she has ranked as the Eagles' leading scorer in five games, one of which was a 39-point explosion vs. Transylvania, the high-water mark by a league player this season and the second-highest total ever by an Emory player.  Her 25-point outing in the team's following outing vs. Denison helped her capture USBWA National Player of the Week honors.  One of the conference's top three-point shooting threats, Chernow has drained a team-leading 49 (10th-highest seasonal mark in school history) triples and per effort of 2.0 treys per game is fourth in the conference. In addition to her scoring and three-point numbers, Chernow is second on the club and seventh in the league in assists average (3.4 apg).

Lindahl, 5-foot-7, is third on the team and 12th in the UAA in scoring average (11.5 ppg), having registered 16 games of double-digit point production (11 in UAA contests). She has finished as Emory's leading scorer on five occasions, including a season-high 21 points in a 57-46 win over Carnegie Mellon (Feb. 17). She holds down the No. 2 spot on the league ladder with a 39.7 percent (46-of-116) effort in three-point field goal percentage, good for 11th place on the school's seasonal list. Lindahl currently possesses a 20-game three-point field goal streak, fifth longest in school history.  She closed the regular season with a flourish, registering seven straight games of double-figure scoring while averaging 15.5 points and shooting 52.7 percent (19-of-36) from three-point range in that stretch.

Emory, 19-6, continues its season on Friday (Mar. 1) when it squares off against No. 5-ranked Trine University in opening-round action of the NCAA D-III Tournament.  The Eagles and Thunder will play their postseason contest on the campus of Thomas More University.
