THE COACHES – Head Coach Misha Jackson (Emory, '13) begins her third season at the helm of the Eagles' program.  Named Interim Head Coach in October of 2017, she guided the Eagles to a 13-12 record her rookie campaign, which included a 7-7 mark in University Athletic Association play. She then had the Interim tag removed in March of 2018.  Last year, she directed the team to an overall record of 19-7, with the win total representing the fourth-highest mark in program history.  The Eagles tied for second in the conference with a 10-4 slate. Emory earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, the program's fourth-ever bid to the postseason.

She enters this year with a school and career record of 32-19.

Jackson is assisted by Sammi Goldsmith and Chuck Melito.

Jamie Purdy (Piedmont, '00) is in her 15th season at the helm of the Piedmont program. During her tenure, she has compiled a school record of 261-122 while guiding six teams to the NCAA Tournament. Now in her 17th year as a head coach, Purdy sports a career won-lost ledger of 292-143.

Now in her 10th campaign calling the shots at Lynchburg is Abby Pyzik Smith (Lynchburg '04). She has directed the Hornets to seven straight seasons of finishing .500 or higher and headed into a Tuesday evening contest vs. Averett with a record of 150-97.

Katherine Menendez (North Central, '08) is in her fourth year as the head coach at Colorado College.  A former assistant coach at Emory (2010-11 through 2013-14), Menendez saw last year's club notch 12 wins, the program's highest total since 2011-12.

SERIES RECORDS – Emory claims an all-time record of 18-14 against Piedmont in a series that dates from November of 1988. Piedmont has won the last two meetings, including the last match-up, a 54-48 verdict at Emory in 2017.  The Lions have won nine of the 17 meetings played on their home court.  Wednesday's game will be Emory's first visit to Demorest, Ga., since December of 2016.

When Emory plays both Lynchburg and Colorado College, it will be the first time the schools have met in women's basketball.

2019-20 OPPONENT RECORDS – Piedmont welcomes Emory to the Mize Center with an overall record of 1-1.  The Lions opened their year with a 78-64 win over Berry College before coming out on the short end of an 83-76 outcome at Oglethorpe this past Sunday.

Lynchburg stood 1-0 heading into a Nov. 12 game at Averett University. The Hornets were successful in their opening contest, rolling to an 81-60 win at home against Meredith this past Sunday.

Colorado College comes to Atlanta looking for its first win.  The Tigers hosted Whitworth last Saturday and dropped a 61-55 decision.

EMORY TRIO TO SERVE AS CAPTAINS – Serving as captains of the 2019-20 Emory women's basketball team are the senior trio of Lindsey Tse (Calabasas, CA), Erin Lindahl (Yardley, PA) and Allison Chernow (Dresher, PA).

EMORY AND SEASON OPENERS – Heading into the game against Piedmont, Emory posts an all-time mark of 20-11 in season openers.  Last year, Emory came out on the short end of a 71-64 verdict to Oglethorpe in its season opener

Wednesday's meeting will represent the third time that Piedmont has been Emory's season-opening foe with the schools splitting the first two meetings.

TSE BACK TO DIRECT THE OFFENSE – Point guard Lindsey Tse is back for another season running the Emory offense.  No. 6 on the program's all-time chart with 407 assists, Tse started all 26 games last year and doled out a conference-best 5.5 assists per game, good for 21st among all D-III players and third on the Eagles' seasonal ladder.  Her 144 total assists were second highest in the league, 19th nationally and tied for second on the school's seasonal chart.  Tse topped the UAA and stood fifth among all D-III players in assist-turnover ratio (3.27).  She placed third on the team in minutes (29.3 mpg) and she totaled 14 contests with six or more assists.

LINDAHL A KEY RETURNING VET – After playing her way to Second Team All-UAA recognition last year, Erin Lindahl looks for a big senior season.  A starter in all 26 games a year ago, Lindahl tossed in 11.4 points per game, good for third place on the team and 12th among UAA performers.   A double-digit point producer on 16 occasions (11 UAA games), she led or shared for team scoring honors five times.  Lindahl knocked down 48 three-point field goals, 11th on the program's seasonal chart, and her average of 1.8 treys per contest slotted her eighth in the league.   In UAA tilts, she tossed in 13.6 points per outing, second on the squad and ninth on the league chart.

CHERNOW PUTS UP NUMBERS --Allison Chernow ranks as the team's leading returning scorer with her 12.8 points-per-game average good for the No. 8 position in the UAA last season. Chernow is a long-range threat with her 49 treys topping the team and ranking as the program's 10th-highest seasonal effort. A double-figure scorer on 17 occasions, she either led or shared for Eagle scoring honors in five games. A solid distributor of the ball as well, Chernow doled out an average of 3.3 assist per outing, good for seventh place in the UAA, and was sixth in assist-turnover ratio (1.3).
