Women's Basketball Wins Third Straight; Defeats Huntingdon 65-44

The Emory women's basketball team showed no signs of rust Thursday night as the team returned from its holiday break to defeat Huntingdon College, 65-44, in a wire-to-wire victory in Montgomery, AL.

Junior Claire Brock continued her torrid pace, notching 24 points for the third consecutive game, as she was one of three Eagles to finish in double figures. Brock went 9-for-18 from the field including 4-for-8 from long range as she paced the Eagles in the 21-point victory. Seniors Anna Arato and Tori Huggins joined Brock in double figures with 10 points each with Huggins adding a game-high 14 rebounds in 24 minutes, tying a career-high.

The Eagles scored the first 14 points of the night and held the Hawks without a point for the opening 5:23 en route to the team's third straight win. Emory limited Huntingdon to under 10 points in each of the first two quarters and went into the halftime break leading by 22 at 39-17. Emory led by as many as 27 in the second half before settling on the 21-point final margin of victory.

Emory will be back on the court Tuesday afternoon with another matchup on the road against Maryville. Tip off is scheduled for 3:00 PM in Tennessee.
