Eagles Crush Colorado College; Brock Records 33-Point Career High

The Emory University women's basketball team continued their hot streak to start the season winning their third straight as they took down Colorado College 87-70 to go undefeated in the Colorado College Classic in Colorado Springs, CO on Saturday evening.

Senior guard Claire Brock was unstoppable all night long as she recorded a new career high 33 points on 12-18 shooting including 5-for-9 from three which brings her season average to 25.7 points per game. Junior Paige Gross continues to find her footing in her new starting role as she rattled off a new career high 15 points while also pulling down four rebounds. Sophomore Erin Martin had a nice night on the defensive end for the Eagles tallying a team-high two blocks while also pouring in 10 points and seven rebounds. For the Tigers Zoe Tomlinson scored a game-high 37 points while also ripping down 13 rebounds.

The Eagles have been unstoppable in the early portion of the season winning each of their first three games by at least 17 points. The Emory Eagles were marksman all night long shooting 13-for-30 from three for an astounding 43.3% shooting from behind the arc to just three makes from deep for the Tigers. Despite a significant advantage in paint scoring for the Tigers it was the Eagles defense that differentiated them from their opponent with five steals to just one from Colorado College.

The first period began in favor of the Tigers as they jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead and it took the Eagles until the 9:58 mark in the second quarter to take their first lead of the game at 25-23, however, Emory would not surrender that lead for the remainder of the game. Brock went scorched earth at the start of the second quarter scoring 14 consecutive points to widen Emory's lead to 38-31. The Eagles went into the locker room at halftime with a 44-37 lead as their offense was just beginning to get warmed up.

Brock would score the first four points of the second half for the Eagles and set the tone for the third quarter in which Emory out scored Colorado College by 13 points setting up a 65-45 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Eagles were able to enter cruise control from there, not letting the Tigers within 16 points the rest of the way as Emory would take the game 87-70.

The Eagles are back in action for a rematch of their season opener against LaGrange on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in LaGrange, GA.
