The Emory University women's basketball team closed their three game road trip with a 77-58 win over the Brandeis Judges on Sunday afternoon in Waltham, MA.
The Eagles (12-3, 3-2 UAA) moved into a tie for third in the UAA with their 3-2 record in the conference after winning on Sunday and dropping a game to No. 8 ranked NYU on Friday.
Sophomore Daniella Aronsky continues on her torrid pace as she put up her career high in points with 23 on Sunday afternoon as she also knocked down a career-high seven three-pointers which is the most for any Eagle this season. Aronsky also led the team in assists with seven as she remains the nation's leader in assists per game at 8.2. Sophomore Morgan Laudick was the lone other starter to score in double figures as she scored ten points including a perfect 2-for-2 three point shooting. Coming off the bench freshman Lily Kennedy scored the most points of her young career with 11 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the field.
The Eagles shooting was the story of the game as they shot an impressive 47.0% from the field and 44.0% from three point land to the Judges 28.6% from beyond the arc. The Eagles also dominated down low as well as they out scored the Judges in the paint 28-18 and outrebounding the Judges 45-38.
The Eagles started the game on a furious pace opening up a 15-4 lead to begin the game with Aronsky knocking down three of her seven threes during the opening run. Emory's blistering pace slowed just a little in the fourth as they closed the quarter with a ten point lead thanks to a Laudick three with seven seconds left in the quarter. An 11-0 run in the second quarter saw the Eagles push their lead to 17 and was highlighted by Kennedy scoring seven of those points.
Emory opened the second half with a 43-26 lead and continued to stretch the lead, building up to as much as 21 in the third before closing the quarter up 58-41. In the fourth period, the Eagles were able to play many players off their bench which allowed them to close out the game with a 77-58 victory.
The Eagles are back at home on Friday, January 27th at 5:30 Pm to take on the No. 10 ranked Chicago Maroons.
