Emory Women's Golf Remains Sixth At Jekyll Island Collegiate

The Emory University women's golf team has two rounds of action in the books following Saturday's action at the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate. The 54-hole tournament is being played on the 5,801-yard, par-72 Indian Mound Course at the Jekyll Island Golf Club.

The Eagles remain in sixth place out of 16 teams with their second-round score of 321 leaving them at 640. No. 2 Methodist ranks first at 609 (306-303) while Centre College is next on the leader board with a 628 (325-303).  Mary Hardin-Baylor (312-318) and Carnegie Mellon (315-315) are tied for third at 630.

Freshman Rebecca Schiffman was Emory's top performer on Saturday, shooting a four-over par 76.  Sophomore Ksheera Jalakam turned in an 80 while freshman Jessica Lan and sophomore Lillian Knetter rounded out the team's scoring with effort with an 81 and 84, respectively.  Freshman Mariana Chong ended the day with an 86.

For the tournament, Schiffman tops the squad and is tied for ninth place out of 82 players with a score of 155 (79-76).  Lan stands tied for 17th at 160 (79-81) while Jalakam is deadlocked for 23rd with a 162 (82-80).  Chong is tied for 32nd (79-86--165) and Knetter is 57th (90-84--174).

Jillian Drinkard of Methodist leads all players after two days of competition with an even par 144 (74-70).

The final round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate will take place on Sunday.
