Emory Women's Golf Finishes Fourth At MCC Intercollegiate

The No. 10-ranked Emory women's golf team closed out play at the MCC Intercollegiate on Monday.  The 36-hole tourney was played at the 5,821-yard, par-72 Montgomery Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama

The Eagles shot a final-round score of 308 to close out the tourney with a mark of 610, good for fourth place out of 10 teams. No. 2 Methodist finished first with an effort of 580 (294-286) while No. 4 Carnegie Mellon claimed runner-up honors at 597 (312-285).  Centre College finished one spot ahead of Emory with a score of 602 (297-305).

Freshman Mariana Chong continued her solid play, leading the Eagles with a program-record score of two-under par 70 that included five birdies. Classmate Jessica Lan turned in a 75 while sophomore Ksheera Jalakam totaled an 81.  Freshman Rebecca Schiffman and sophomore Shriya Agarwal each shot 82.

For the tournament, Chong tied for third in the 50-player field with a one-over par 145 (75-70).  She finished with six birdies over the 36 holes and her 23 pars were second only to Lan's tourney-best 25. Lan tied for 10th on the leader board with a score of 151 (76-75) while Schiffman tied for 20th at 156 (74-82).  Jalakam ended the Intercollegiate with a 158 (77-81) while Agarwal registered a 160.

Jillian Drinkard of Methodist brought home medalist honors with a six-under 138 (72-66).

The MCC Intercollegiate represented the Eagles' final regular-season tournament.
