Emory Women's Golf Sits Second Through Two Rounds at Golfweek Invitational

After two rounds of play the Emory women's golf team sits in second place at the Golfweek invitational in Sandestin, FL. The 54-hole tournament is being played on the 5,603-yard, par-72 Baytowne course at the Sandestin Resort.

The No. 6 ranked Eagles sit with a score of 603 after two rounds just two strokes behind first place No. 4 ranked Centre. The Eagles were locked into second place after round one carding a 306 but trailed the Colonels by 11 strokes. A strong second round score of 297, the best by any team in the round, helped bridge the gap as the Eagles go into the third and final round of play tomorrow. No.1 ranked Carnegie Mellon sits in third (609) while No. 20 ranked Berry College is fourth (615).

Freshman Sharon Mun sits in second place after two rounds registering a 146 including a three-under par 69 in the second round that is the best score of any golfer thus far. Freshman Ellen Dong isn't far off her teammate as she sits in fourth place scoring a 148 (73-75) and leading the field in pars with 26. Sophomores Irene Wang (79-74) and Mariana Chong (77-79) are in 24th place and 34th place, respectively. In her first tournament of the year, junior Shriya Agarwal closed scoring for the Eagles with a 173 (84-89).

The final round of the Golfweek invitational will be played Tuesday October, 19th.
