Women's Soccer Travels to Rochester for Regular Season Finale

The Emory University Women's Soccer team gears up for the final game of the 2016 regular season, traveling to Rochester, NY to face the University of Rochester Yellowjackets on Saturday evening. Kickoff from Edwin Fauver Stadium is set for 5:00 PM.

UAA Update

The Eagles were eliminated from at least a share of the UAA Championship last weekend but can still manage a top-four finish with a win over the Yellowjackets on Saturday. Washington, Chicago and Carnegie Mellon enter Saturday separated by just one point at the top of the UAA standings with Carnegie Mellon hosting Case Western Reserve meanwhile Chicago travels to Washington. Brandeis at NYU rounds out UAA action on Saturday.

Emory University Eagles

The Eagles are coming off back-to-back 1-1 double overtime ties in UAA competition against #17 Brandeis and New York University to move their overall record to 9-5-2 and 2-2-2 in the UAA and enter the final weekend of the season ranked ninth in the latest NCAA regional rankings. Sophomore Grace Edgarton and freshman Caroline Kolski provided the offense for the Eagles with Kolski and freshman Shivani Beall adding assists. Kolski moved into the team-lead with Beall with five tallies on the year while the assist by Beall was her seventh of the season, the most by an Eagle since Karina Rodriguez during the 2013 season. Sophomore Dani Staffin made seven saves over the two contests to give her 29 stops on the year while dropping her goals-against average to 0.88.

Senior Hannah Meyer was recently selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team based on her performance on the field as well as in the classroom. The two-time All-UAA performer with a 3.76 grade-point average while double majoring in Biology and Chemistry will now be placed on the national ballot for an opportunity to be named an Academic All-American.

Emory is led on the sidelines by Head Coach Sue Patberg who is in her 12th season with the program. In her time with the Eagles, she has guided the team to a 154-42-38 record. In her 23-year career, Patberg is 300-129-56. She is assisted by Associate Coach Rachel Moreland and Goalkeeper Coach Mike Wentzler.

University of Rochester Yellowjackets

Rochester has won three of its last five games, going to 3-1-1 to improve to 5-7-5 on the year and come into play Saturday tied for fifth in the UAA standings with seven points (2-3-1). Three Yellowjackets have registered double digit point totals on the season with sophomore McKenzie Runyan contributing with a team-best 12 points (4G, 4A). Senior Jean Chakmakas has netted a team-leading five goals to go along with one assist for 11 points. Freshman Jorie Freitag has put together a solid rookie season with four goals and two assists for 10 points. In addition to leading scoring trio, sophomore Megan Runyan has dished out a team-high six assists for the Yellowjackets. Three keepers have seen their share of time between the posts this year with junior Madilynne Lee seeing the bulk of time at the position, going 2-4-1 in 11 games (nine starts) with a 1.33 GAA and 35 saves for a .778 save percentage. Freshman Gwen Haffenden has gone 2-1-2 in six games played, making five starts, recording 30 saves for a .833 save percentage and a 1.05 GAA. Sophomore Samantha Hlavac has a team-low 0.63 GAA in six games played (3 GS), going 1-2-2 while making 14 saves for .824 save percentage.

Rochester is under the leadership of Sike Dardaganis who is in his sixth season as head coach of the program. Under Dardaganis' leadership, the Yellowjackets have gone 36-48-18 overall and 9-25-7 in UAA games.

All-Time Series

The Eagles are 4-0-2 in the last six meetings with Rochester but trail in the all-time series 10-13-6. Last season, Emory posted a 3-1 victory over the Yellowjackets at the Woodruff PE Center.
