Emory Women's Soccer Stifles Huntingdon, 2-0

The Emory University Women's Soccer team stifled the Huntingdon College Hawks, 2-0, Tuesday night at the Woodruff PE Center.

The Eagles held the Hawks to just two shots in the game, outscoring HC 20-2 including a 12-1 margin in shots on goal. Emory dominated possession from the get-go and had five shots on target in the opening half but were held off the scoreboard as Huntingdon's Kylie Kersh made five stops in the half.

The Eagles finally broke through in the early stages of the second half with two quick goals less than two minutes apart. Junior Nikki Batt notched Emory's first tally in the 51st minute with a header from close range. Just 63 seconds later, freshman Samantha Hilsee scored for the fourth time in five games as she poked home a loose ball from inside the six.

Junior Dani Staffin and sophomore Haley Pratt combined for the shutout with Pratt earning the victory to improve to 4-2 on the year. The clean sheet was the sixth for the Eagles on the season and fourth over the last five contests.

Emory returns to action this Saturday with a matchup against No.-1 ranked University of Chicago. Game time is slated for 1:30 PM local time.
