The Emory University Women's Soccer team had four players earn All-University Athletic Association kudos as the All-UAA team as voted on by the eight head coaches was released Thursday afternoon.
Freshman Lily Dresner received First Team acclaim with juniors Danielle Darius and Abbe McCarter earning Second team recognition. Senior Anna Gurney rounded out the Emory honorees as she was named an Honorable Mention.
Dresner makes her first career All-UAA appearance following a stellar rookie season. Dresner played in 17 games including 16 starts, recording two goals and three assists for seven points. She was a vital piece of the Emory defense as the Eagles' backline held opponents to averages of 7.9 shots per game and 4.2 shots on goal while registering nine clean sheets. She scored her first collegiate goal in Emory's 1-1 draw at home against NYU.
Darius earns her second All-UAA honor after being named Honorable Mention as a sophomore. Darius was the lone Eagle to start all 18 contests in 2017, tying her career-high with seven points on three goals and one assist. She led the Emory defense to a 0.98 goals-against average and held 10 opposing teams to three shots on goal or fewer.
Coming off a career-season, McCarter garners her first All-UAA honor. McCarter posted career-highs in every offensive category while playing in all 18 games. Her nine assists, the most by an Eagle since Charlotte Butker had 10 in 2010, ranked second among UAA leaders with her 17 points placing tied for 10th on the conference leaderboard.
Gurney closed out her Blue and Gold career with her third straight Honorable Mention selection after appearing in all 18 games including 17 starts during her senior season. Gurney tied her career-high with two goals in the midfield and added a pair of assists to total six points.
Emory turned in a 10-7-1 overall mark in 2017, representing the program's first double-digit win total since 2014.
