Emory Women's Soccer Announces 2018 Schedule

The Emory University Women's Soccer team has announced its 2018 schedule which consists of eight matches against programs that qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III tournament.

The Eagles open the 18-game schedule with seven of the first nine contests away from the Woodruff PE Center, including six neutral site matches, beginning with neutral games at Trinity University in San Antonio against Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran on August 31st and September 2nd. Emory then returns to Atlanta to face crosstown foe, Oglethorpe, in the home opener on September 6th. PLU qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2017, advancing to the second round.

After hosting the Stormy Petrels, the Eagles face a trio of programs that were selected to the NCAA tournament last season, all at neutral locations. Emory will play Rowan at Pfeiffer University on September 9th before taking on Lynchburg and Thomas More at Sewanee on September 15th and 16th. Both Rowan and Thomas More fell in the first round in 2017 while Lynchburg advanced to the Sweet 16.

Emory will welcome Piedmont to campus on September 21st before heading out on the road for the team's first two true road matches of the year at Huntingdon (Sept. 23) and Washington-St. Louis (Sept. 29).

The contest at WashU will be one of four University Athletic Association games on the road as Emory will also travel to NYU (Oct. 12), Brandeis (Oct. 14) and Rochester (Nov.3). Both Washington and Brandeis reached the NCAA second round in 2017 with WashU advancing to the Sweet 16.

The Eagles will have the home field advantage for most of the month of October with six of the eight scheduled matches set to be played at the Woodruff PE Center. Emory will host non-conference foes Berry (Oct. 2), Maryville (Oct. 9) and Covenant (Oct. 17) and UAA rivals Chicago (Oct. 6), Carnegie Mellon (Oct. 26) and Case Western Reserve (Oct. 28). Chicago finished the 2017 season as the national runner-up while CMU reached the Sweet 16.

Emory is coming off their 29th consecutive winning season, finishing the year with a 10-7-1 overall record.
