Women's Soccer Handles Puget Sound, 1-0, in Season Opener

The Emory University Women's Soccer team posted a strong start to the 2018 season, dispatching Puget Sound University, 1-0, at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.

The Eagles held possession for the majority of the contest, finishing the game with a 32-3 advantage in shots including a 14-0 edge in shots on goal.

Senior Abbe McCarter recorded the difference maker in the match, finding the back of the net in the 26th minute for his first marker of the campaign. Classmate Madison Phaneuf and sophomore Yasmin Toy each registered a team-high three shots on target with junior Shivani Beall finishing with a game-high seven shots. Senior Dani Staffin played all 90 minutes between the posts to record her ninth career shutout.

The Eagles return to the pitch Sunday afternoon to face Pacific Lutheran University. Action from San Antonio is slated to begin at 12:00 PM EST.
