Emory Women's Soccer Blanks Berry College, 3-0

The Emory University Women's Soccer team bounced back into the win column Tuesday night, defeating in-state foe Berry College, 3-0, at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

The Eagles thoroughly controlled possession on the night, outshooting the Vikings 30-4 and did not allow the visitors to record a shot on goal to record their sixth shutout of the season. Emory also posted an 11-2 advantage in corner kicks in the match, the sixth time this season the Eagles won the corner kick battle.

The game was scoreless for a majority of the first half until sophomore Caroline Moore broke the tie with a goal in the 30th minute. After a cluster in front of the net, Moore was able to get a foot on the ball and drill it home for her second goal of the season.

Less than seven minutes later, the Eagles doubled their lead as Emory ran a perfectly executed corner kick with sophomore Lily Dresner headed in the feed from senior Nikki Batt. The goal was Dresner's first of the season while the assist was Batt's first point of the year.

Sophomore Samantha Hilsee recorded her fourth goal of the last four games to round out the Emory scoring in the 63rd minute. Freshman Lindsey Breskow hit senior Abbe McCarter with a far pass deep in the Berry zone before McCarter fed Hilsee inside the six with an end line pass allowing Hilsee to finish it with ease.

Emory resumes University Athletic Association competition this Saturday, October 6th, when the Eagles host the University of Chicago Maroons at 1:30 PM EST.
