Emory Women's Soccer Earns Home Win over Carnegie Mellon, 1-0

Junior Caroline Kolski provided the only offense needed on a cold and dreary Friday night in Atlanta as the Emory University Women's Soccer team padded their NCAA tournament resume with a 1-0 win over Carnegie Mellon University in UAA action.

Kolski netted her third goal of the season in the 57th minute, tapping in the Abbe McCarter centering pass to break the scoreless tie. The shot on goal was the lone one on target for the Eagles on the night as the teams were locked in a defensive battle with the programs combining for 15 shots and just four shots on goal.

Senior Dani Staffin made three saves to record her third shutout of the season including a big-time stop on a Kaily Bruch header attempt in the 28th minute, pushing it over the crossbar. Carnegie Mellon had another a late opportunity in the 87th by Tara Durstewitz but her shot drilled the post before the Eagles were able to clear it.

Emory concludes its three-game homestand on Sunday against Case Western Reserve with the final regular season match at the Woodruff PE Center. Prior to the 1:30 PM kickoff, the Eagles will honor their nine seniors: McCarter, Staffin, Nikki Batt, Danielle Darius, Sophia Dillon, Jordan Doak, Nylah Hamilton, Hope Morgan and Madison Phaneuf with a special on-field ceremony.
