Women's Soccer Lands Six on All-UAA Team; Hilsee & Beall Named to First Team

The Emory University Women's Soccer program had a strong showing on the All-University Athletic Association team as it was announced Thursday afternoon, earning six selections including two First Team honors.

Junior Shivani Beall and sophomore Samantha Hilsee highlighted the Emory selections with First Team kudos with senior captains Nikki Batt and Madison Phaneuf earning Second Team nods. Senior Dani Staffin and sophomore Lily Dresner rounded out the Eagle honorees, being tabbed as Honorable Mentions.

Beall makes her second All-Association First Team after previously being selected as freshman. The Atlanta native has put forth a tremendous junior campaign, entering the postseason with a career-high nine goals and 22 points while ranking first in the UAA with 72 shots on goal and third in points. She was named the UAA Offensive Athlete of the Week after setting a career-high with a hat trick performance against Covenant on October 17th.

Hilsee garners her first All-UAA selection as she joins Beall on the First Team. As a sophomore, Hilsee has started all 18 contests while setting a career-high with 15 points and tying her personal-high with six goals. She registered a point in four of the team's UAA contests and was named the conference's Offensive Athlete of the Week on September 25th after scoring three goals in the Eagles' two wins over Piedmont and Huntingdon.

Phaneuf and Batt each make their All-UAA debuts with Second Team selections. Phaneuf has posted career-highs across the board with six goals, three assists and 15 points and was tabbed the UAA Athlete of the Week after scoring in three straight games as the Eagles went 2-0-1 against Maryville, NYU and No. 14-Brandeis. Batt was one of four Eagles to start every game this season, finishing with a pair of assists for two points, and leading an Emory defense that recorded eight shutouts on the year.

Staffin is another first time All-UAA honoree, making Honorable Mention along with Dresner. Staffin has turned in personal-bests in goals-against average (0.80), saves (55), save percentage (.809) and victories (13). She set a career-best with 13 saves in an overtime defeat to top-ranked Washington on September 29th. Dresner, like Batt, appeared in the starting lineup on all 18 occasions in 2018, scoring one goal and dishing out three assists while anchoring an Emory defense that ranks 65th in Division III with a 0.76 GAA and has limited opposing teams to averages of 8.89 shots and 4.11 shots on goal per game.

The Eagles (13-4-1) continue their season on Saturday with a first round matchup against Penn State-Berks (15-3-2) in Lynchburg, VA, starting at approximately 3:30 pm.
