Kolski, Klar Net Early Goals as Women's Soccer Picks Up Road Win at Case Western Reserve

A pair of early first-half goals were all the Emory University women's soccer team needed Friday evening to earn their first University Athletic Association victory as the Eagles posted the 2-0 decision over the Spartans at DiSanto Field on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH.

Senior Caroline Kolski led off the scoring just under the three minute mark with her fourth goal of the season. Classmate Shivani Beall fed Kolski with a throw-in to the left side of the box. Kolski collected the feed with two CWRU defenders but was able to work around both before firing a shot over two more Spartans and into the top right corner.

A little over 27 minutes later at the 30:25 mark of the opener, freshman Natalie Klar tacked on to her team-leading total, scoring her sixth goal of her rookie campaign on the assist by sophomore Arielle Williamson. Williamson sent a long cross into the box where it appeared to overpass everyone but a high bounce allowed Klar to race under it and finish it home to the left post.

For the game, the Eagles outshot their UAA counterparts by a 19-11 margin and a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. Senior Haley Pratt made five saves in the shutout as she and the Emory defense earned their fifth cleansheet of 2019.

The Eagles now travel to Pittsburgh, PA for a date with the 24th-ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans to round out the UAA weekend. Kickoff from Pittsburgh is set for 11:00 AM on Sunday.
