Women's Soccer Blanks #24 Carnegie Mellon, 1-0, for Second Straight UAA Road Win

The Emory University women's soccer team boosted its postseason resume on Sunday, knocking off No.-24 ranked Carnegie Mellon University, 1-0, in University Athletic Association action in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Eagles, now winners of two straight, improve to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in UAA play while the Tartans see their six-game winning streak snapped to fall to 9-3-1 overall and 3-1 in conference games.

Freshman Peyton Robertson supplied the offense for the Eagles, breaking the scoreless tie with her second goal of the season in 58th minute. Following a corner kick taken by sophomore Arielle Williamson that bounced around inside the box, senior Caroline Kolski collected the loose ball, tapped it back to Robertson who finished it home over the goalkeeper's head.

The defense stood tall over the final 32 minutes of the game including senior goalkeeper Haley Pratt who made four saves across the final third of regulation to keep the Tartans off the scoreboard. Pratt was superb in the match, totaling a career-high nine saves as she recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

The Eagles look to keep their current win-streak going when the team returns to the field next Sunday, October 27th, against Huntingdon College. Kickoff from the WoodPEC is set for 3:00 PM.
