Six Different Eagles Score as Women's Soccer Routs Covenant, 6-0

Six different players found the back of the net Tuesday night as the Emory University women's soccer team remained unbeaten, defeating Covenant College, 6-0, in front of a packed house at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

The Eagles scored three times in each half for the team's second straight six-goal victory as well as held Covenant to just three shots (one on goal) for their third straight shutout. The win moves Emory to 4-0-1 on the season with Covenant dropping to 2-4 following the loss.

Senior Molly Miller opened the scoring for the Eagles as she netted her second tally of the year in the eighth minute. Covenant's Lucy Sandhoff initially made the save on an errant header by a Scot defender but the ball trickled away and towards the post. Miller beat several Covenant defenders to the ball, tapping it in on the goal line for the score.

Junior Kylie Hall doubled the Eagles lead in the 13th minute as she beat Sandhoff to the near post from just outside the six. Sophomore Olivia McBerry rounded out the first half scoring in the 32nd minute with her first collegiate score as she fired home to the upper far corner from nine yards out.

Sophomore Grace Reyer and junior Aubrey Blanchard found the scoring column minutes apart to begin the second half scoring in the 55th and 57th minutes. Reyer one-timed a centering pass from Hall from the top of the six before Blanchard followed with a shot from distance that bounced past the keeper and in to the far corner.

Sophomore Olivia Friedman closed out the onslaught with the goal of the match in the 85th minute. Friedman took the ball from midfield and proceeded to race past five Covenant defenders before beating the keeper one-on-one for her first career score.

The Emory backline once again limited the opposition to under seven total shots and the straight game the Eagles have allowed just one shot on target. Senior Emma Platt did not see a ball come her way in the opening 45 minutes to earn the win while junior Emma Miller made one save as she played the entire second half.

The Eagles look to keep its unbeaten streak going this weekend as they host Washington & Lee Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM before traveling to Birmingham-Southern on Sunday.
