Emory Women's Soccer Shuts Out Sewanee, 3-0

The Emory University women's soccer team made its way back into the win column Tuesday night, snapping its brief two-game skid with a 3-0 victory at the University of the South.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with two goals within the first eight minutes of the game including one during the opening 76 seconds and would later add a goal in the closing minutes to cap off the win. With the victory, the Eagles improved to 8-2-1 overall while Sewanee dropped to 7-3-1.

Sophomore Olivia McBerry registered the fastest goal scored by an Emory player so far this season, giving the Eagles an early lead 1:16 into the game. It was McBerry's fifth goal of the year and marked the third goal by the Eagles within the opening 120 seconds of a game this season. Classmate Grace Reyer assisted on the play, her first assist in 2021.

The Eagles quickly added another score as junior Aubrey Blanchard netted her fifth marker of the campaign in the eighth minute, scoring off a corner kick from senior Lindsey Breskow.

The score remained 2-0 until the 88th minute when Breskow put the finishing touch on the win, scoring at the 87:16 mark off the feed from junior Kylie Hall. It was Breksow's third score this season.

Emory controlled most of the possession on the evening, ending with a 23-5 margin in total shots and a 15-2 edge in shots on goal. Junior Emma Miller drew her second start, grabbing two saves for the shutout.

The Eagles return to UAA competition Sunday morning as they battle No. 3 ranked Washington University on the road. Opening touch is set for 12:00 PM EDT.
