Emory Women's Soccer Falls on Road to #23 Brandeis, 1-0

The No. 18 ranked Emory University women's soccer team lost a tight match on the road Friday evening to No. 23 ranked Brandeis University.

In the 30th minute, a cross from Brandeis' Juliette Carreiro found the right foot of Caroline Swan deep in the box for, what would end up being, the game winning goal in the 1-0 victory for the Judges. With the win, Brandeis moves to 9-4-2 and 2-3 in UAA play while the Eagles fall to 11-4-1 and 2-3 as well in the conference.

The Eagles finished with three shots on goal with two of them coming in the last eight minutes of play. Brandies' Hannah Bassan denied everything the Eagles threw her way and in doing so recorded her third shutout of the season.

Junior Aubrey Blanchard had a chance to tie the game up in the 83' minute but a diving save by Bassan kept the Eagles off the board. Emory's final opportunity came in the 90th minute when senior Lindsey Breskow, on a ball sent from midfield, took one dribble in the box before ripping one right into Bassans outstretched arms to close the game.

Senior Emma Platt made five saves for the Eagles over the course of the first half with the loss bringing her record in goal to 8-2-1.

The Eagles close out their weekend stint on the road in New York on Sunday morning at 11 AM where they will take on the Violets of NYU.
