Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight; Downs Lynchburg 3-1

The Emory University women's soccer team won its third straight game Sunday afternoon, defeating the University of Lynchburg 3-1 at the Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, NC.

For the third time this season the Eagles were led on the offensive end with a two-goal performance, this time by senior LJ Kolodge who logged the first two-goal game of her career. Senior Kylie Hall was also a fixture in the win, pushing her assist streak to three games with her second straight two assist effort.

Kolodge opened the scoring in the 14th minute, settling a pass right in front before slotting a shot under the Lynchburg keeper. The play was set up by Hall who floated a pass over the wave a traffic around the penalty spot.

The Hornets countered before the end of the half, scoring the equalizer in the 37th minute as Sophie Walsh converted a penalty kick.

The score remained knotted at 1-1 until the Eagles notched two goals over a span of 2:09 mid-way through the second half. Junior Grace Reyer put Emory ahead with a score at the 68:39 mark, scoring from inside the six from the excellent flick pass from graduate student Mara Rodriguez. The Eagles put the game away shortly after as Kolodge and Hall linked up again at the 70:48 mark for the team's third goal. Hall sent a free kick towards the goal line where Kolodge knocked it in off her shoulder.

Emory thoroughly controlled possession across the 90 minutes, finishing with a 19-5 edge in total shots and outgained Lynchburg 7-3 in shots on goal.

The Eagles return to action this Friday with road matchup against Maryville College. Kickoff is set for 6:00 PM.
